Payroll Specialist III
The Payroll Specialist III is an experienced payroll professional responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll across multiple countries within an assigned region.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role owns the end-to-end execution of payroll processes and ensures all payroll activities are completed in line with local legislative requirements, company policy, and established timelines.
The Payroll Specialist III serves as a regional subject matter expert in payroll processes and compliance, is responsible for ensuring payroll activities are compliant with local statutory requirements across assigned countries, and acts as the primary day-to-day contact for payroll providers, supporting delivery against agreed service levels.
The role partners closely with People Operations, Finance, and external providers to ensure data integrity, compliance, and a consistently high standard of payroll delivery, while contributing to the ongoing improvement and scalability of payroll operations.

Working arrangement At Pax8 APAC

During your first 6 months, you'll be based in our Manila office to immerse yourself in the team, the culture, and your role.
After 6 months, you'll be eligible to request a hybrid arrangement of up to 2 days working from home each week, tailored to your role and team rhythm.

This is an onsite, dayshift role and will work at our office in One Ayala, Makati City.
What you’ll be doing
End-to-End Payroll Processing & Execution (60%)
Execute end-to-end payroll processing for all APAC countries (including Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, and other in-scope markets), ensuring payroll is delivered accurately and on time each cycle
Collect, validate, and reconcile payroll inputs from relevant stakeholders prior to submission
Review and audit payroll outputs from external providers (e.g., Deel), identifying and resolving discrepancies
Maintain payroll calendars and ensure adherence to cut-off timelines
Escalate issues or risks impacting payroll accuracy or delivery
Provide payroll processing support across other regions as required, ensuring continuity of payroll operations during periods of absence, in line with established processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Compliance, Legislation & Risk Management (20%)
Apply extensive knowledge of local payroll legislation, tax, and statutory requirements to ensure compliant payroll delivery
Monitor and respond to regulatory changes, updating processes and documentation as needed
Support payroll audits by preparing required data, reconciliations, and documentation
Identify compliance risks and contribute to mitigation actions
Stakeholder Partnership & Employee Support (15%)
Act as a point of contact for payroll-related queries, resolving issues accurately and efficiently
Partner with People Operations to ensure employee lifecycle changes are reflected correctly in payrollCollaborate with Finance on payroll reconciliations, reporting, and month-end activities
Work with payroll vendors to support accurate and timely delivery against agreed standards
Process Improvement, Systems & Documentation (5%)
Identify and support improvements to payroll processes, systems, and data flows
Contribute to automation and efficiency initiatives
Maintain accurate and up-to-date process documentation
Participate in testing (UAT) for payroll-related system changes
Share knowledge and provide guidance to less experienced team members
What you’ll bring
5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-country exposure
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and statutory requirements
Experience working with third-party payroll providers
Advanced Excel skills (data validation, reconciliation, analysis)
Experience with Workday, Deel, or similar payroll systems
High attention to detail and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple payrolls simultaneously
Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders
Ability to work independently and resolve complex payroll issues
