Director, Commercial Legal
What You Will Do
- Build for scale
Create and implement a programmatic, scalable, and flexible approach to how the legal team engages with stakeholders across the Pax8 marketplace. - Collaborate deeply
Partner closely with other members of the legal team and with business stakeholders to deliver practical, business-focused legal support that creates meaningful value. - Drive outcomes
Translate vision into focused roadmaps tied to clear business goals and measurable results. Track performance across initiatives and ensure day-to-day execution stays aligned to those outcomes. - Standardize and streamline
Develop, refine, and implement contracting policies and procedures, standardized approval templates, and a cohesive global approach to commercial legal matters at Pax8. - Empower our teams
Remove blockers, simplify processes, streamline dependencies, and help cross-functional teams move quickly and confidently while managing legal risk. - Leverage your commercial and technology expertise
Draft, review, negotiate, and simplify a wide variety of commercial and technology agreements. Provide strategic legal advice to dynamic internal teams in clear and accessible language. - Model learning agility
Monitor and advise on relevant legal developments, trends, and risks affecting our business and industry. Continuously learn, unlearn, and adapt to change, sharing knowledge generously and seeking feedback along the way.
What You Bring
- At least ten years of relevant legal experience in commercial agreements, with a strong focus on technology-related agreements and transactions.
- Experience both at a law firm and in-house at a technology company.
- Excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, management, and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and business-oriented approach.
- Working knowledge of intellectual property law, cybersecurity, and data privacy.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with a track record as a trusted partner for business leadership.
- The ability to think strategically, balance business needs with legal risks, and manage expectations of senior stakeholders.
- An adaptable, detail-oriented working style, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Experience using a contract lifecycle management system; experience with Salesforce is a plus.

Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Juris Doctor law degree from a top-tier law school.
- Current membership in good standing with a State Bar.
Work Environment and Travel
- Professional office environment, with regular use of standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
- Remote and hybrid work at Pax8 requires secure, private, and reliable internet service.
- This is a primarily sedentary role that involves sitting and/or standing for extended periods.
- Infrequent travel may be required.
Compensation:
- Qualified candidates can expect a salary range of $180,000-$200,000 or more depending on experience
