The Engineer III is a senior-level technical contributor responsible for delivering high-impact engineering solutions aligned with business strategy. This role supports a specific business unit (BU) or cohort, collaborating across teams to ensure high-quality output and exceptional customer experience. Engineer IIIs lead complex projects, often with undefined parameters, and are accountable for implementing strategic departmental goals.
Success in this role requires technical mastery, cross-functional collaboration, and a strong alignment with Pax8’s cultural behaviors.
Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Execution
- Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of IT systems and processes that support business transformation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, acting as an escalation point for Level I and II Engineers.
- Ensure system continuity through proactive monitoring, patching, backups, and automation.

Project Management
- Drive strategic initiatives by participating in Agile and Waterfall project ceremonies.
- Communicate effectively across teams to ensure alignment and progress tracking.
- Contribute to blameless post-mortems and root cause analyses.

Customer Experience & Support
- Respond to critical incidents and emergencies, including outside standard hours when necessary.
- Deliver high-quality support and maintain service level objectives (SLOs).
- Author and maintain knowledge base articles, SOPs, and enablement documentation.

Team & Personal Development
- Engage in continuous learning through Pax8’s Elev8 platform and L&D programs.
- Share knowledge and mentor peers to elevate team performance.
- Demonstrate accountability by honoring commitments and delivering on time.
Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise
- Strong experience in systems engineering and administration.
- Proficiency in Azure Modern Workplace technologies (AzureAD, InTune, SSO, Teams, SharePoint).
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure).
- Mastery of automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, CloudFormation).

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority.
- Experience with project management tools (Jira, MS DevOps, ServiceNow, Trello, Asana).

- Knowledge of cloud security best practices.
- Experience with access control frameworks and system reliability engineering.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified SysOps).
- Experience in enterprise-scale environments and multi-division projects.
Compensation:
- Qualified candidates can expect a compensation range of $115,000/yr to $145,000/yr or more depending on experience.
