Altia is a global embedded HMI software and professional services company trusted by the world's most demanding manufacturers. Our DeepScreen code generator transforms UI designs into optimized, hardware-ready code for virtually any embedded target — and AI is now making that path faster than ever: through Altia’s MCP server, AI tools can help design and refine the GUI, while DeepScreen continues to generate deterministic, production-proven code, backed by Altia’s ASPICE Level 2 software development process. With over 100 million production vehicles and devices running Altia technology across automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer electronics markets, we combine deep embedded expertise with the software and services manufacturers need to get from concept to production.

Altia technology is already at work in Korea: Hyundai Kia designs its 4.2-inch instrument clusters in-house with Altia Design and DeepScreen, including those in the new-generation Kia Sportage. Working with Altia Korea’s sales team, this role will grow that footprint with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and other embedded display makers across Korea.

Based in Korea and part of Altia’s global Solutions Architect team, this role combines field application engineering (FAE), pre-sales solution architecture, and hands-on HMI development. The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter, who is highly skilled in customer relations and technical communications. The ability to effectively present solutions to embedded system problems, while confidently influencing and encouraging customers toward acceptance of proposed solutions, is key. A well-developed network in the Korean automotive industry is strongly preferred.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical pre-sales for new HMI opportunities in Korea, primarily with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, and also in industrial, medical, and other embedded display markets: requirements discovery, solution architecture, technical presentations, and competitive evaluations that show Altia’s measurable advantages over competing solutions in memory usage, system performance, hardware cost, and development efficiency
  • HMI design and model development work for sales demos, proof of concept projects, and paid services projects
  • Validate customer requirements and agree on measurable success criteria before starting demos and PoCs, then demonstrate the technical benefits achieved and help convert successful PoCs into commercial projects and paid engineering services
  • Demonstrate the full Altia workflow, from Figma designs (via the Altia Figma Exporter) through Altia Design to DeepScreen-generated code running on target hardware, including AI-assisted GUI design through Altia’s MCP server
  • Port, integrate, and optimize Altia-generated code on target hardware widely used in Korea, such as Telechips, Renesas, NXP, Infineon, and STMicroelectronics platforms, reducing memory footprint and improving performance so customers can meet their goals on lower-cost hardware
  • Technical support for customers in Korea, and for customers elsewhere in Asia-Pacific as needed
  • Balance immediate customer support requests with new business development, prioritizing time across strategic demos, PoCs, paid engineering projects, and general customer support in line with priorities agreed with the Korea Sales Manager and VP of Global Sales
  • Serve as the technical bridge between Korean customers and Altia’s US-based engineering and product teams: clarify requirements, triage and escalate issues, and bring customer feedback into product planning
  • Post-sales training and solution integration work involving Altia products and Altia generated code
  • Partner with Altia’s Korea Sales Manager on account planning and opportunity strategy
  • Build technical relationships with silicon vendor and partner teams in Korea, and represent Altia at customer tech days, trade shows, and industry events

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  • 8+ years of professional engineering experience, including at least 5 years in embedded software or HMI development
  • 3+ years in a customer-facing technical role, such as field application engineering, sales support, or solutions architecture
  • Fluent Korean and strong professional English (spoken and written), with the ability to translate both verbal and written technical content between Korean and English
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with team and internal/external customers through email, video calls, and in-person interaction
  • Ability to present technical information in clear, concise, and understandable manner
  • Strong C and C++ programming skills
  • Hands-on embedded HMI development experience: building screen-based user interfaces and integrating them on target hardware (microcontrollers and/or application processors), including bring-up, debugging, and performance tuning
  • Proven experience working directly with customers to diagnose and solve embedded systems problems

Preferred Qualifications (helpful, but not required):

  • Strongly preferred: established relationships with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers active in Korea, such as Hyundai Motor Group (Hyundai, Kia, Genesis), Hyundai Mobis, KG Mobility (formerly SsangYong), Samsung (including Harman), LG Electronics, AUMOVIO (formerly Continental Automotive), and TYW
  • Experience optimizing embedded code for memory usage, CPU/GPU load, and startup time, helping customers reduce hardware cost and meet performance targets
  • A track record of turning technical evaluations or PoCs into customer wins and follow-on engineering services business
  • Experience with automotive instrument cluster, cockpit, or infotainment HMI programs, and familiarity with the software-defined vehicle (SDV) direction of Korean OEMs, such as Hyundai Motor Group’s Pleos platform
  • Familiarity with embedded development technologies and tool chains (e.g., Green Hills, IAR, Arm/GCC, TASKING)
  • Experience across embedded platforms: bare-metal and RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, AUTOSAR OS) on microcontrollers, and embedded Linux, QNX, or Android Automotive on application processors
  • Hands-on experience with automotive MCUs and SoCs common in Korea (e.g., Telechips, Renesas, NXP, Infineon, STMicroelectronics) and their graphics hardware and APIs (e.g., OpenGL ES, Vulkan, 2D GPUs)
  • Exposure to automotive process and functional safety standards, such as ASPICE (Altia’s own development process is ASPICE Level 2) and ISO 26262
  • Experience with HMI design tools and design-to-development handoff (e.g., Figma, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator)
  • Python scripting, Git, and experience using AI-assisted coding or design tools in an engineering workflow
  • Experience with other embedded HMI frameworks or tools, to support competitive evaluations and clearly demonstrate Altia’s technical advantages

Travel & Working Hours:

  • Regular travel of at least 20% and up to 50% of time within South Korea, mainly to customer R&D centers, and less frequent international travel (including USA, Japan, China, and India)
  • Korea is 15–16 hours ahead of Altia HQ in Colorado (depending on US daylight saving time), so the role includes regular early-morning or late-evening (KST) calls with the US team, with flexible scheduling to balance them
